Thymosin Alpha 1: Research Overview

Abstract molecular illustration representing Thymosin Alpha 1 peptide research

Thymosin alpha 1 is a synthetic 28-amino-acid peptide corresponding to a thymus-derived immune-signaling molecule, studied for its interactions with immune-modulation pathways.

A comprehensive narrative review published in Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine (2024), titled “Comprehensive Review of the Safety and Efficacy of Thymosin Alpha 1 in Human Clinical Trials,” examined more than 30 human clinical trials involving over 11,000 participants across contexts including COVID-19, infectious disease, cancer, and autoimmune conditions, summarizing reported safety and efficacy data across this body of literature (PubMed).

A related review published in the World Journal of Virology (2020), titled “Thymosin alpha 1: A comprehensive review of the literature,” examined published evidence on the peptide’s biochemical properties and biological activities using in vitro studies with human cancer cell lines, animal studies in mice and rats, and human clinical studies, compiling findings across these varied model systems (PMC).
